Erica Friedland Design (EFDesign) is a full service architectural and interior design firm in practice since 2001 with commercial and residential projects throughout the New York Metropolitan Area and New Jersey. Clients deal directly with principal Erica Friedland Tufaro to custom curate a project that reflects individual needs, lifestyle and budget. We can bring to fruition a new home from the ground up or simply help you tweak the space you have. Our white glove service delivers any or all aspects of a project including:

  • Schematic design, space planning and preliminary cost estimation
  • Detailed design drawings, including plans, elevations, and details
  • Selection, specification and purchase of finish materials, fixtures, fittings, appliances, and furnishings
  • Assistance with bidding and negotiation with contractors
  • Coordination with consultants as the project dictates, including engineers, expeditors, etc.
  • Obtaining of permission and/or any required permits
  • Supervision of work and installations during entire process, from demolition through closeout

Erica’s design philosophy is that a project should be rooted in classic modernism, yet flavored with a client’s own personality so as to never look staged, or worse, dated.

Erica Friedland Tufaro has over 20 years of experience in design, construction, and travel that have enriched her design perspective and practices. After completing her BA in Economics and a Master of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, she honed her practical skills in the high-end NYC boutique firms, 1100 Architect and B5 Studio, before establishing her own office in 2001. She also completed architecture and design study in Italy and Japan, as well as research in Australia and an archeological dig in Turkey. All of these experiences, accompanied with a lifetime of travel, have broadened her perspective and honed her attention to detail. This is strongly reflected in both her process and the quality of her work and thus, your experience.
